If your vehicle allows for hands-free phone calls via Bluetooth but doesn't enable music and audio streaming, you're not alone. I had the same issue and went on the hunt for a solution. After extensive research, I discovered that purchasing an expensive piece of hardware was the best option, as it provided the missing A2DP Bluetooth profile necessary for audio streaming. This hardware allowed me to stream audio and connect it to the auxiliary port. While this is a great solution if you're willing to spend $100 or more on equipment, I believed there had to be a better way... Thankfully, the Bluetooth Streamer Pro app is now available as a cost-effective alternative!
This app allows you to trick your car stereo or any device supporting the Bluetooth Hands-Free Protocol (HFP) into thinking it is on a phone call while streaming music or audio instead.
The convenience of this app is particularly beneficial for podcast and audiobook enthusiasts who use platforms such as Audible and Scribd.

Most new vehicles equipped with Bluetooth technology can stream stereo music via the A2DP protocol and make phone calls using the HFP protocol. If this describes your vehicle, this app may not be as useful. However, if you own a slightly older vehicle with factory-installed Bluetooth that only supports the HFP protocol for phone calls, this app is designed for you. We have also identified several newer and older headset and hearing aid models that solely support HFP Bluetooth. While this is not an exhaustive list, it includes many late-model vehicles from Acura and General Motors (with Onstar) as well as the Audi MMI system. Additionally, certain headset models from Samsung, BlueAnt, and Plantronics, as well as hearing aid models from Unitron and Phonak, are likely to benefit from the app. Still, we strongly recommend conducting your own equipment compatibility tests during the free trial period to ensure optimal functionality.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please bear in mind that audio is streamed to the car stereo or other HFP device using a protocol primarily intended for voice calls. As a result, the audio frequency range output may differ from what is achieved with the A2DP protocol. It is important to realize that this limitation is hardware- and protocol-based and NOT an issue with the app itself. To overcome this limitation, purchasing different – and often expensive – hardware is required. Therefore, we strongly advise thorough testing to ensure your satisfaction before making a purchase.
